It’s time to review the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout! This is the newest pre workout in our pre workout world that is likely to become at least somewhat popular due to the enormous reach of the mighty Bodybuilding.com company. I finally got my hands on this pre workout and in this review I’m going to tell you ALL about it. This pre workout has three flavors, ALL of which I’ve now tasted. So not only can I tell you all about whether or not the bodybuilding.com pre workout WORKS but also what the best flavor is, and of course I’ll tell you all about what’s actually in it as well. I’ve worked out three times with this pre workout and now I’ll be able to tell you what I think about the performance as well. So if you’re ready to jump into this review with me, I’m ready too. Let’s get started.
SIGNATURE SERIES LOOKS: 6/10 D
Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout. Where do we even begin? I’ll start by saying some things I noticed IMMEDIATELY off the bat here. And that is that this pre workout looks just terrible aesthetically. I know it’s not the most important thing in the world but good GOSH. Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout is one of the ugliest, cheapest, most boring pre workout products I’ve ever laid eyes on. So yeah I know we’re already off on a super negative note here. But. This is one ugly duckling. I promise I didn’t let the looks skew my opinion, but I AM giving this pre workout a 7/10 on the looks. Ok. So that’s out of the way. Let’s move into what really matters.
SIGNATURE SERIES PERFORMANCE: 8.7/10 B+
Ok so the looks are bad. But that takes a far backseat to how the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout actually performs, and this pre workout does actually perform pretty nicely. I like that the energy is smooth, and not over the top. You guys know I’ve literally reviewed over a hundred pre workout supplements and I have a good grip on what is too strong, too weak, and everything in between.
Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout is just the right amount of caffeine for me. Especially coming off my review of Cass Martin’s WRKETHIC pre workout, which really kind of floored me energy wise.
The bb.com pre workout also has a decent amount of a pump effect. It’s not perfect, and I probably would prefer a little bit more of a pump, but I will give it to the folks at bodybuilding.com that they did make a decent pump pre workout. I did shoulders today, which usually gives me a really good chance to feel my muscles swell and pump. I got a medium pump from the Signature Series pre workout and felt pretty good about it.
The endurance and strength benefits of the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout are where this product really needed improvement. I think in terms of strength enhancement it’s actually one of the weaker ones I’ve tried, and endurance was also pretty terrible, which is surprising given how much Bodybuilding.com SHOULD know about formulations.
So yeah. A bit of a mixed bag on the performance side. Good energy. Decent pumps. Kind of lacking in strength and endurance. Overall not too bad though. But you know what is bad? The TASTE.
SIGNUATURE SERIES FLAVORS: 7/10 C
Whoa nelly. The Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout actually tastes bad. I mean. Bad. It’s literally incomprehensible how they managed to make their pre workout NOT taste amazing. I mean. They’ve used all the artificial flavors and sweeteners and they STILL didn’t knock it out of the park? What the heck?! I’m really disappointed in the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout as far as taste because it was literally the one thing I thought I’d be able to count on from them. Sigh. But. I mean at least I’ll tell you what the best flavor of the Signature Series pre workout is just in case you have your heart set on it.
The best flavor of the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout is the Blue Raspberry. But still. Don’t hold your breath waiting for something to blow your mind. It’s probably the most standard blue razz you will ever have in your life. It’s just the most drinkable of the three. I mean. This flavor does have a decent balance of flavor to sweet to tart.. it’s ok. More than I can say for the other two though.
The second best flavor of the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout would by default have to be the fruit punch. But even this was a poor attempt at fruit punch. It tastes like they tried to make it taste like a standard fruit punch, but just got really bad flavoring ingredients. Or really cheap ones. Or stale ones. I don’t even know. But this flavor, no matter how much I tried to make it super concentrated, always just tasted super artificial and chemically. I hated it.
The WORST flavor of the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout is the cherry limeade. This flavor is so bad I literally have to hold my nose to choke it down. I don’t know what made them try to make a cherry lime flavor in the first place with all the other great options they could’ve gone with. I mean. Look at Cellucor C4 or some of the other great pre workouts out there and copy them. This flavor is just really bad. Anyways. That’s all for now on flavor they did not do a good job on it in my opinion. But. Alas. I suppose taste is subjective so blah blah blah try it yourself blah blah. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
BODYBUILDING.COM SIGNATURE SERIES INGREDIENTS:
I think this pre workout has about as average of a formula you can get. They played it pretty safe in terms of the formulation by using only a handful of ingredients, and really steering clear of any of the add ins that would make the product too strong. I’ll list out the full Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout ingredients and then we’ll discuss them.
Citrulline
Leucine
Carnosyn Beta-Alanine
Taurine
Caffeine
Yep. That’s all folks. Just those five. Add in all your artificial flavoring ingredients and you have your Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout.
The first thing you’ll notice is a lack of stimulants and a lack of creatine. By the looks of this supplement fact panel and the price point that they charge, you basically have a clear image of what bodybuilding has created here with the Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout. And that’s a very basic product, devoid of any special ingredients at all to set it apart. I’ll give them a 7/10 on the formulation.
BB.COM SIGNATURE SERIES PRE WORKOUT REVIEW SUMMARY
Looks: 6/10
Formula: 7/10
Performance: 8.4/10
Flavors: 6/10
Value: 7/10
Final Score: 6.8/10
I’ll just say it. The Bodybuilding.com Signature Series pre workout is a disappointment. It’s a budget, low-end, entry-level pre workout. Created with the ultimate profit margins in mind, and not much else. And that’s really all there is to it. I would not recommend.*
