I’m going to dive into the flavors of BPN pre workout first – because I know taste is important to most of you.

I have a pretty funny story about what happened when I took BPN for the first time, so definitely stay tuned for that.

BPN has a rather unique formula, with a few little twists that set it apart from other products, and I’ll discuss those in detail.

So you will find out basically the following five key things about BPN’s Fiight pre workout:

- What are the ingredients in BPN pre workout?

And that should really cover all the bases as far as this BPN Flight product is concerned.
So let’s get those seat-belts fastened, tray-tables stowed, and get this BPN Flight review off the ground.
As always, I’ll start the review with a brief overview of the BPN brand.
About BPN – Bare Performance Nutrition
BPN seemed to really come on strong about two or three years ago when Instagram was having more of a hayday…
But I think they are still performing really strong with their target customer, which, honestly is basically the same profile as a 1st Phorm customer.
BPN stands for ‘Bare Performance Nutrition’, with the ‘Bare’ being the last name of founder Nick Bare, who we’ll discuss in the next section.
This brand has a full-range of supplements, and seems to cater towards a more blue-collar, no-frills customer.
Their products are dosed effectively and made in the USA, which is important to me.
I have always admired this brand because of their no-nonsense approach to sports nutrition.
The approach does very much remind me of 1st Phorm or even Bub’s Naturals in the sense that they all support the military/veterans as well.
BPN is not a flashy brand, but it is an impressive brand nonetheless.
How I Came Across BPN Nutrition
This part is kind of funny, because I actually stumbled on BPN from going down a social media rabbit hole…
And I don’t know what you guys’ rabbit holes look like, but for me, from time-to-time, the Instagram algorithm shows me pictures of attractive track athletes.
So one day, mixed in among the various make-up ads, and viral cat videos, was this rather handsome man running on a trail.
The post featured an inspirational caption about work ethic, and so, as I sometimes do…
I clicked on the profile to see who this guy was.
As you may have guessed, that ‘guy’ was none other than Nick Bare – the founder and CEO of Bare Performance Nutrition.
Now I have to tell you.
…His abs are incredible.
Oops did I say that out loud?
What I meant to say was that his page is totally worth a follow because he offers inspirational and meaningful content!
Yes, that’s it.
But no seriously he seems to be an incredible guy, and I appreciate that he served in the military as well.

(Shhh I’m not a simp, you’re a simp!)
But yeah that’s how I found Barre Performance Nutrition.
Should we actually talk about the Flight pre workout now?
Yes.. yes we should.
Let’s do it – starting with flavors.
BPN Flight Pre Workout Flavor Analysis
Flavor is one of the most important things about a pre-workout in my opinion…
I mean, you are getting ready to go work your butt off in the gym, at least you should be able to have something yummy beforehand.
That’s why I love trying new pre-workouts too, because I love trying new tasty flavors.
So when I saw the flavor menu for the BPN pre workout, I was pretty stoked…
They have five flavors that all sound really good.
I had trouble picking just one, so I grabbed a jar of each flavor to try out.
Here’s what I thought of each:
Prickly Pear
I have never, ever, ever had a Prickly Pear-flavored pre workout, or any prickly pear flavored energy drink for that matter.
So when I saw that this was one of their flavors I was low-key freaking out.
Prickly pear is the most under-rated fruit flavor going right now, and I’m so pumped that they made this flavor.
This was the first flavor that I tried, and it did NOT disappoint.
Prickly pear has almost a sweet, tropical, flavor to it…
Unlike some fruit flavors that just taste like sugar, the BPN flavor is bursting with actual fruit flavor, if that makes sense.
It’s not bland – it’s really big, poppy flavor and I was basically chugging it.
It’s that good.
Read down below in the ‘side effects’ section if you want to know what happens when you chug pre workout.
But yeah this flavor was hands-down my favorite.
Blue Raspberry
Blue raspberry is a pretty standard pre workout flavor, for good reason.
This flavor usually gets the job done when you want something fruity and nostalgic…
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the sweetness level at first because it is literally SO sweet…
But I watered it down a little bit, and that seemed to help alot.
I have definitely had better blue razz flavors in the pre workout scene, but I don’t think this one was terrible by any means.
Just a little too sweet for my liking…
I will say that my daughter tried a little sip of this one and told me it was the best-tasting pre workout that she’d ever had (and she’s tried several of mine)…
So that’s something to keep in mind.
Flavor is so subjective at the end of the day that what I like, you might not.
I just try to share my honest thoughts and go from there.
Okay let’s talk about the Strawberry Kiwi now…
Strawberry Kiwi
You guys know by now that Strawberry Kiwi has never really been my ‘go-to’ flavor.
I usually find the Strawberry Kiwi flavor to be a little bit of an afterthought by the brands, because it usually falls a bit short on flavor.
Where the Prickly Pear had that big, bold flavor, I found that the Strawberry Kiwi was a little bit of the opposite.
Like the Blue Raspberry, there was plenty of sweetness to go round…
But I wanted it to have more fruit flavor to go along with the sweetness.
This one was pretty average in my opinion.
Pink Lemonade
Lemonade is one of my favorite Summertime flavors, so trying it in the middle of the Winter here in Ohio wasn’t quite as exciting as it would be in July…
But that being said, I still really enjoyed this flavor.
The tartness was there, which sometimes is lacking in the citrus-themed flavors.
I also thought this flavor did a better job of balancing the sweetness level with the fruit-flavor…
There is even a little bit of a salt element in this flavor which makes it very tasty and drinkable.
Bonus points go to this flavor for having the best color when mixed as well, as this flavor mixes a beautiful light pink.
Sour Watermelon
The sour watermelon flavor was the last flavor that I tried, and was only available on the BPN Amazon storefront.
I usually really love watermelon, and this flavor was pretty good, but it was almost too sour for me.
When you take a sip of it, you get a strong watermelon flavor, but it is almost obfuscated by the overwhelming sour taste.
I wish they had lowered the sour notes a little bit, because the watermelon flavors themselves are really quite good.
If you love sour candy, you might actually really enjoy this one though.
What’s the Best Flavor of BPN Flight Pre Workout?
After having tried all four flavors of BPN pre workout, I think I can safely say that I made the right decision…
That decision being that the best flavor of BPN Flight Pre Workout is without a doubt the Prickly Pear flavor.
…the best flavor of BPN Flight Pre Workout is without a doubt the Prickly Pear flavor.”
– lovelyreviews.com
This was the only one of the five flavors that had me sipping it furiously, basically to the point of chugging it.
It is sweet, it’s fruity, and most importantly- it’s a unique flavor.
You won’t find another Prickly Pear flavor on the pre workout market today.
This one is definitely worth trying if you’re like me and enjoy trying new and unique flavors.
Ranking the BPN Pre Workout Flavors
If I had to rank these four flavors, I think it would actually be pretty close between the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions…
But if you really want to know how I would rank, them…
I think it would look a little something like this:
- Prickly Pear
- Pink Lemonade
- Sour Watermelon
- Blue Raspberry
- Strawberry Kiwi
The Pink Lemonade took the silver medal for me partly because of that lovely pink color, but mostly because it’s just very well-balanced and tasty…
Watermelon was okay but just a little too sour for my liking…
And then the Blue Raspberry is super sweet, but tasty enough, while as you know I didn’t much care for the Strawberry Kiwi.
To sum up my thoughts on these flavors in general…
I think they are actually really well-formulated…
Sure, they are a tiny bit too sweet, but the fruit flavors are on-point, there’s no weird texture or off-notes, and they are super easy to drink.
I have to tip my hat to BPN flavoring team for a job well done on these Flight flavors.
Let’s get into the performance section of the review now – because it’s pretty darn funny.
Is BPN Pre Workout Effective?
Look- the way a pre workout performs is the most important part of the entire product.
But before I tell you how this product felt in the gym, i have to share something pretty funny…
And I promised you guys a good story involving the BPN Flight pre workout…
So here it is.
A Quick Story
Don’t worry I’m also going to tell you how the product actually worked for me by the end of the story but hear me out…
So usually to test these pre workouts, I pick one of my weekly workout classes, and take my pre workout about a half hour before.
Well this week, I had a cycling class, and I was running a little late.
So what happened was, since I knew I wanted to still try my BPN pre workout before the class…
You Won’t Believe What Happened Next
I ended up trying to make my pre workout in the car, as I was driving.
Now- please know that this was a completely stupid decision by me.
I fully understand that.
But look – we all do stupid stuff sometimes, and this was one of those times for me.
So as I was trying to open my jar of pre workout on my lap, and scoop it into my hydro-jug…
The car in front of me literally slammed on the brakes, so that I also had to jam on my breaks.
The jar of BPN Fligth went flying into my steeriing wheel, and sent a cloud of white pre workout all over my face.
As my luck would have it…
There was a police cruiser immediately next to me when this happened.
He Was Not Amused.
Yeah he pulled my ass over faster than you can say ‘BPN’.
Imagine his perspective…
He looked over, saw me looking down into my lap, and then next thing he sees is a cloud of white smoke.
‘Sketchy’ doesn’t even begin to explain how I looked in that moment.
Luckily for me, I was gifted with the power of smooth-talking, and I also happened to be lucky enough to be a woman with a male cop who definitely just thought I was cute.
So I was able to get out of trouble.
But you better believe I was late AF to my workout class, and basically showed up with BPN Flight in my hair.
Talk about a hot mess!
Well anyways, that was my ridiculous story…and true, sadly.
I did eventually get to use this product before a workout, and I actually really liked it.
What Does BPN Feel Like During a Workout?
I thought this product would be a little more tame, because BPN isn’t really a ‘hardcore’ brand…
But let me tell you – this pre workout actually packs a massive punch.
But let me tell you – this pre workout actually packs a massive punch.”
– lovelyreviews.com
As you will find out in the next section, there is a very serious stimulant component to this product that helps it hit really hard.
I tried one scoop before a pretty high-intensity circuit class at my gym….
And before I was even done with the warm-up portion of the workout, I was sweating my butt off.
As the intensity of the class picked up, I was really starting to get dialed in.
I felt like I was really in the zone, and able to focus really well on the task at hand.
The best part of this pre workout is in the cognitive benefits of the user.
Sure, you do get some enhanced stamina, and even some strength benefits…
But the main benefit for me was that I was just so dialed in and focused when I took BPN Flight.
This was one of my favorite pre workouts when it comes to the energy and focus side of things.
Let’s look at the formula and see if we can figure out exactly why that might be.
BPN Flight Pre Workout Formula
I usually say that flavor is the most important thing for me with pre-workouts, but the truth is that it’s actually the ingredients which matter most.
After all, you can have the best-tasting pre-workout of all time, but if it doesn’t perform well, than it won’t actually last in your routine for long.
And as you learned from my experience (albeit a stressful one with the police!), this pre-workout really does hit hard.
I loved the way I felt about 30 minutes after taking it – not only did I feel energized, but I just felt happy and good.
Let’s take a peek at the supplement facts to see what’s actually in here.
BPN Flight Ingredients List
- CarnoSyn Beta-Alanine
- Betaine Anhydrous
- L-Citrulline
- N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine
- Caffeine Anhydrous
- Dicaffeine Malate
- Clubmoss (Huperzine A)
- Black Pepper Extract
NOTES:
The first thing that stands out to me is that there is not any creatine in the Flight pre-workout
That’s because BPN actually makes a standalone creatine product instead, which can be used in conjunction with the pre workout
BPN uses betaine anhydrous, and beta-alanine to provide a strength and endurance boost in place of creatine, which is smart of them
There are two different types of caffeine in this product, which probably explains why I felt so energized on it…
You have normal caffeine anhydrous, and then also Dicaffeine Malate, which is an extended release caffeine which helps you stay energized for longer
BPN Flight also contains some ingredients like L-taurine and L-tyrosine, which support your brain and mental energy levels
The last piece of the puzzle for BPN flight is the huperzine, which adds another energizing aspect to the product
To summarize my thoughts on this formula, I actually really like it.
It’s doesn’t have anything all that revolutionary in it when it comes to the ingredients…
In fact this formula actually reminds me quite a bit of other pre workouts that I’ve tried in the past…
But it is well-rounded / balanced, and overall highly effective for me.
Before we move on to my favorite part of every review, which is the packaging section, we should probably talk side effects.
BPN Pre Workout Side Effects
Okay so sometimes with pre-workout you can end up getting a little bit of a flushed feeling in the cheeks and neck.
That’s because these products contain beta-alanine, which can sometimes cause this feeling.
I didn’t get quite as much tingling from BPN Flight as I did from some of the other pre workouts that I’ve tried, but I did still notice some of it.
Beyond that, there weren’t any other negative side effects, but I did want to call out one more thing…
And that is that you want to be careful about what time of day you take this pre workout.
…be careful about what time of day you take this pre workout.”
– lovelyreviews.com
If you take it too late in the day, the time-released dicaffeine malate can potentially keep you up for several hours depending on how your body responds to stimulants.
I know for me that one time I took it before a 4 PM workout class, and I was still extremely energized later that night at 9 PM when I wanted to sleep.
So that’s just something to keep in mind.
Other than that, I didn’t experience any other side BPN Flight side effects.
Let’s move on and discuss the packaging.
BPN Flight Pre Workout Packaging is Not Great
As you guys know, I am extremely passionate about packaging.
It’s just kind of, you know, my thing.
I love finding products that are truly well-designed from the inside-out.
I’m not sure why, but I feel like the supplement game has sort of elevated their game lately…
Some really cool packaging has come across my desk lately.
From the trendy, yet retro vibes of the ‘Podium’ protein, to the minimalist, yet attention-grabbing ‘Promix’ protein, it seems the nutrition space is really embracing good design lately.
Unfortunately, this is going to be where BPN sort of falls short for me.
It’s Just Boring…
You know I loved the product within, so this is not a deal-breaker by any stretch of the imagination…
But BPN’s packaging really leaves something to be desired.
BPN’s packaging really leaves something to be desired.”
– lovelyreviews.com
The brand name is boring enough (no offense to the owners), but you really need to accompany the name with something a little more ‘pop-y’ to give this product more of a presence.
The name ‘Flight’ is actually very good, so I give them credit on that.
But with such a cool name, they could have done SO many cool things with their packaging and branding.
Since I’m pretty sure their founder was in the military, I’m surprised that they didn’t riff on that in some way…
The opportunities are endless to mix in some cool graphics and stuff like that.
Almost like the way Redcon1 does (by the way what happened to them? Used to see them everywhere…)
Anyways.
Yeah BPN packaging is just kind of boring to be honest – there’s not a lot to say about it.
The black plastic packaging is a little boring…
The white label is boring, with boring black graphics…
I’m not sure why they chose to make it so plain.
It actually does remind me a little bit of the 1st Phorm style, in that there is just a ton of white space, with very few graphics.
I guess that is sort of the ‘utilitarian’ look that they are going for?
It just doesn’t work for me, but who knows, maybe other folks love it.
BPN gets a lackluster B- on the packaging side of things…
But on a brighter note, the product is still an amazing value despite the somewhat ugly packaging.
Should You Try BPN Flight Pre Workout?
BPN doesn’t have the best looks, but it sure does taste good, and it actually has pretty great ingredients.
Which means that it actually works quite well.
But what about the price point?
Well, let’s discuss.
BPN Flight is usually $45 for a tub of 30 servings, which prices it at just around $1.50 per serving.
At the time of writing this article, however, BPN Flight is on sale for just $38.24, which puts it at a $1.27 per serving cost.
That, ladies and gentleman, makes this product an absolute steal.
That, ladies and gentleman, makes this product an absolute steal.”
– lovelyreviews.com
Given how good the flavors are, and how rock-solid the formula is, this is one of the better values that I’ve seen in the pre-workout landscape.
You might be able to find slightly cheaper pre-workouts, but in my opinion this price puts Flight within reach for most folks.
Let’s wrap things up now.
BPN Pre Workout Review Summary
- BPN is a trending sports nutrition brand founded by former soldier Nick Bare, and they make a full line of nutrition products including the Flight pre-workout
- Flight comes in three great flavors, which all have a distinctive, and unique taste. My favorite was the Prickly Pear, which is a first in the pre workout realm
- The key strength of the Flight product is the formula, which features popular pre-workout ingredients like beta-alanine, citrulline, and two different types of caffeine
- I’ve used Flight on a number of occasions, and can say confidently that it works very well for multiple types of workouts, including cardio and weight-lifting
- The best part of Flight is the energy and focus that it provides – giving plenty of sustained mental activation without ever feeling ‘over-stimulated
- Flight’s packaging is completely lack-luster, and really the only negative/downside of the product that we could find
- For between $1.27 – $1.50 per serving, Flight is priced incredibly fairly given how solid of a product it is
To wrap things up with a single sentence – I don’t think you could find a more well-rounded pre workout than BPN Flight for this price point.
It tastes incredibly good, has a fabulous formula, and is priced perfectly for most people… It’s absolutely worth trying for your next pre-workout.*
