Beam Pre Workout Review – A Must Try for 2024

Posted on January 9th, 2024 By Allie Lewis in Pre Workout Reviews Read Time: 12 mins.

Beam pre-workout is one of the hottest new pre workout powders that I’ve tried this year, and I’m pretty pumped to share my findings in this review.

As my long-time readers know, and as you are about to find out if you are new to my reviews, is that I have some fun with these posts.

So if you’re looking for a spammy or boring Beam pre workout review, this one is not for you.

But if you want to hear about this product from someone who has actually tried all three flavors, then you are in the right place.

Let’s get started!

What to Expect in This Beam Pre-Workout Review

So, yeah as mentioned, I have tried the three top flavors of this energy powder and I can tell you exactly what to expect from it.

The most important thing to me with pre workout is the actual effects and how you feel when you take it.

Some of the pre workouts can make you feel strung out and crazy.

Some of them can make you feel jittery and anxious.

With some of them you feel literally nothing at all…

And then a few of them…

They make you feel unstoppable – those are the best pre workout products

And today you’re going to find out if Beam is one of those!

We are also going to talk about the flavors – I tried the watermelon, rainbow, and peach flavors, and I’ll rank all three from best to worst.

So you will find out what the best Beam pre workout flavor is.

The other things we’ll do in the post are talk about the ingredients, any side effects, and of course do a full packaging design analysis.

I’ll close out the post by letting you know if I think Beam pre workout is actually worth the money.

Let’s get the ball rolling by giving you a quick intro to the brand.

About Beam Nutrition

Beam is a really cool brand, but one that has not been around for very long.

They were founded by a guy who ended up with cancer, which he eventually overcame by rallying around the message of being resilient.

That message became his brand ethos, and the name ‘Beam’ even stands for ‘Be Amazing’ and that you can rise to whatever challenges that come your way.

I really appreciate what this brand stands for, as someone who has had her own challenges in life.

I really appreciate what this brand stands for.

But I think that’s also why this brand is resonating with so many people – because we all have to ‘Be Amazing’ in life and overcome our own challenges.

Just like the other new, trending brand Promix that I found recently, Beam has a robust product line.

They make pre workout, along with protein, hydration products, probiotics, greens, and more.

It’s clear that this brand is growing rapidly, and it’s awesome to see.

How I Found Beam Pre-Workout

Like I said, Beam is a relatively new brand, but I’m really glad I found them.

The first I ever heard of Beam, was when a friend of mine referred me to them.

At first, I got confused, because there is also a supplement brand called ‘Beam’ that makes CBD products…

But come to learn that there are somehow two new supplement brands called ‘Beam’.

And this one is the much more interesting of the two, to me at least.

My friend Alex said she actually found Beam on Tik-Tok first, and was curious if I had ever tried their protein powder.

I had not, so you know I had to get my hands on some.

I ended up trying six flavors of Beam Protein – which I really enjoyed.

(Be sure to check out my full Beam Protein review to find out which flavor I liked best.)

But yeah – since I liked the protein, I had to try their pre workout.

They have 3 flavors on Amazon, and I grabbed a tub of each one to try out.

Here’s what I thought of each one.

Beam Pre-Workout Flavor Analysis

NOTE: I tried the three flavors that are available on Amazon, but they have many more flavors on the Beam website.

Look, the way a pre workout actually feels is the most important, but taste is important too

After all – who wants to start their workout by slugging down something that doesn’t taste good??

Not me.

I still feel like some of my favorite pre workouts performed great, but tasted even better.

I mean – who can forget the original Cellucor C4 flavors, or the original Jym pre workout flavors – they were absolutely epic.

As I waited eagerly for my Beam pre workouts to arrive, I secretly hoped that they would be on par with some of those greats.

So, were they?

Let’s start with the best-tasting one – the Watermelon Candy.

Watermelon Candy

Okay so this flavor was pretty darn good…

I’ll be honest, at first I was expecting it to be a little more sour and a little more, i don’t know, maybe ‘candy-like’ in some way…

But the more sips I had, the more this flavor started to grow on me.

The typical way of describing anything watermelon flavored is ‘oh it tastes just like watermelon jolly ranchers’…

But this one is a little more nuanced than that.

I would compare this flavor to more of a real watermelon flavor, almost like that ‘Mela’ watermelon juice.

The flavor is sweet, and tastes more natural than most watermelon – flavored pre workouts

– lovelyreviews.com

This flavor is sweet, and tastes a lot more natural than your standard watermelon pre workouts.

I also found that for the entire next week, I found myself reaching for this flavor over the other two.

Rainbow Candy

My second favorite flavor of the Beam pre workout was the rainbow candy flavor.

This one is really hard to describe, but I think that’s the way that they intended.

At first, this flavor is overwhelming because it’s so hard to pin down what flavor it really is…

You can pick up notes of grape, orange, lemon, and maybe some cherry too.

It reminds me of grabbing a handful of Skittles out of the bag when you were a kid on Halloween…

It is sweet, tangy, and fruity.

I did find that this flavor can be a little too overbearing to drink regularly, but was quite tasty to have once in a while.

Sour Peach Rings

I was expecting to like this flavor much more, but unfortunately it kind of fell flat for me.

The peach flavor is there, but in my opinion it needs more sour, and more sweet than it currently has.

When I think of actual peach ring candy, I imagine a really bold flavor, that almost makes you pucker your lips.

Those real sour peach rings are like an explosion of sweet and sour, and I just didn’t get enough of that sensation with this flavor.

That being said, when I thought of this flavor as more of a peach punch, things got much better.

Peach was my least favorite flavor of Beam pre workout, but it wasn’t bad at all.

What’s the Best Flavor of Beam Pre-Workout

The best flavor of Beam pre workout is the Watermelon Candy – if you are looking for a take on watermelon that is totally refreshing, than this one is for you.

– lovelyreviews.com

It is nicely balanced, and doesn’t taste artificial or fake.

I really looked forward to drinking the Watermelon flavor each time.

The second-best flavor of the Beam pre workout is the rainbow candy, followed by the peach rings.

Overall, I thought Beam did a great job with their flavors – especially considering that they used all natural flavors.

As for a flavor grade, I’m going to give them a solid ‘B’ for flavor.

It’s not the best-tasting pre workout I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty darn good.

I will also note again that there are several other flavors available on the Beam website that I was not able to try yet, including:

  • Sour Cherry
  • Hawaiian Breeze
  • Sour Blue Gummy
  • Pink Lemonade

…They also have some stimulant-free options as well.

But anyways – let’s shift gears and talk about the real strength of this pre workout – how it actually performs.

Does Beam Pre-Workout Work?

After I tried the three flavors for taste, it was time to get into the fun part – actually using this product before a tough workout.

Luckily, I had the perfect scenario.

My morning Yoga Sculpt class, which I am always showing up to exhausted and groggy!

I needed a pick-me-up to make sure I was able to have a decent workout…

So I loaded up 1.5 scoops of Beam into my trusty Shaker bottle, and made my way to the studio.

Energy was Good

Pre-workouts usually boost strength, endurance, and energy, to some degree.

I typically focus most on the energy aspect, because that’s where I get the biggest benefit from these products.

For me, this is where Beam really stood tall.

About 15 minutes after taking my pre workout, I got a really nice burst of energy.

I wasn’t jittery, I wasn’t anxious, I was just buzzed-up and ready to rock-n-roll.

I wasn’t jittery, I wasn’t anxious, I was just buzzed-up and ready to rock-n-roll.

I practically floated into the studio that day.

Endurance was Slightly improved

My yoga sculpt class is actually very demanding when it comes to endurance.

The day I tested Beam pre workout, we had a super hard circuit with split squats, squat jumps, and a demonic burpee finisher!

Yeah there was nothing ‘yoga’ about it – this was just a very hard interval session!

But even with the difficulty of the workout, I felt like I was able to power through to the end with energy leftover to spare.

I definitely felt like Beam helped give me a nice endurance boost

It also helped with strength.

Beam Gave a Strength Boost

Most pre workouts can provide energy, but not many give a strength boost that you can actually feel.

But I think Beam did just that.

Usually I just use the 10 pound dumbbells for my sculpt circuit, but with Beam, I decided to bump up to 12.5.

Which, I’ve tried a few times in the past, and it did NOT go well.

But with my Beam fuel coursing through my veins, I was completely able to power through with the heavier weights.

I have to give Beam a solid ‘A’ on the performance side of things.

This pre workout totally works wonders

Let’s check the ingredients and see what is in here that gives such great results.

Beam Pre Workout Ingredients

After being so pleasantly surprised with how this product works, I was really curious to look at the ingredients.

I was expecting to see some of the familiar faces in here like caffeine, but there were some surprise too.

Let me share the list, and then I’ll jot down my notes on the Beam formula.

Beam Ingredients:

  • L-Citrulline
  • Carnosyn Beta Alanine
  • Betaine Anhydrous
  • Taurine
  • L-Tyrosine
  • KSM-66 Ashwagandha
  • Caffeine from Coffeeberry
  • Cocoa Bean (Theobromine)
  • Grape Seed Extract
  • L-Theanine
  • Astragalus
  • Resveratrol

NOTES:

  • After seeing this formula, I’m not surprised that it worked so well for me – the Carnosyn beta-alanine, combined with the citrulline provide the endurance benefits…
  • There are plenty of energizing ingredients too between the caffeine, tyrosine, and taurine, and I like how the caffeine is derived from coffee bean
  • Theobromine, grape seed, and resveratrol are a fascinating and unique combination of ingredients to find in a pre workout – these are antioxidants with special qualities beyond athletic performance alone
  • Betaine is a great ingredient for boosting strength, although I did notice that there is not any creatine in this formula

Overall, I’m a big, big fan of this formula, and give it an A overall – it is dosed well, and is highly effective.

Another great thing about this product is that I noticed no real undesired side effects.

Beam Pre Workout Side Effects

Luckily for me, I did not notice any real side effects that would make me avoid this pre workout.

I had a tiny bit of beta-alanine tingles around my nose, cheeks, and ears… but if you’ve ever taken pre workout before, you know that this is perfectly normal.

Also keep in mind that with any caffeinated product, including this one, there is going to be a slight ‘come-down’ in energy at some point, usually 3-4 hours after taking it.

But other than that, there were no un-expected side effects noted from Beam pre workout.

Let’s talk about the packaging, and then wrap this Beam pre workout review up.

Beam Pre-Workout Packaging is Absolutely Brilliant

I thought the Beam protein packaging was good, but not great…

But I really actually love their pre workout packaging.

It does keep the same overall ‘look’ as the Beam protein powder, with one standard theme color (navy blue, in this case, whereas the protein was tan)…

And then they use the Beam branding in a really cool way by mixing in different colors depending on what flavor it is.

For example, the Watermelon candy has the standard blue background, but then all the graphics are pink, and green, like watermelon.

But the coolest-looking flavor has to be the sour blue gummy.

The electric blue graphics stand-out so perfectly on the navy jar/label..

And the graphics fade to a bright green at the bottom of the label, making for a very dramatic, and cool effect.

I have to tip my hat to Beam on the packaging-design – it is absolutely stunning

Now, the question you’ve really been waiting for – is Beam pre workout worth the cost?

Is Beam Pre Workout Worth the Money?

Look – Beam is not the cheapest pre-workout out there.

At $46, you aren’t looking at a low-cost option – but keep in mind that there actually are 40 servings in each jar.

And the way that Beam designed the product, you can take one scoop at a time, or two scoops for a more intense experience.

If you take 2 scoops (250 mg of caffeine per serving), the product is quite expensive at over $2 per serving.

But the thing to keep in mind is that you probably won’t end up taking 2 scoops each time.

So when all is said and done, I think the product is priced rather fairly…

Especially when you consider how good the formula is.

I will give Beam a B on value.

Let’s summarize what we’ve learned today about the Beam pre workout.

Beam Pre Workout Review Summary

— Beam is a new brand built around the theme of resilience and empowerment – it encourages its customers to ‘Be Amazing’ every day

— The Beam pre workout comes in several flavors, with the Watermelon Candy being the best-tasting of the bunch

— Beam works great for all kinds of workouts, and it noticeably increased energy, endurance, and strength levels during a rigorous exercise routine

The bottom line?

Beam is one of my brands to watch in 2024.

They are building a very thoughtful product line, and clearly have the ‘basics’ down, as demonstrated by their creatine-free pre-workout, which is one of the top new products for 2024.

It’s a must-try.*
