Hello and welcome to my Amazing Greens Amazing Meal Chocolate Reviews. In this in-depth I’m going to take you over the river and through the woods and to Grandma’s house for a good old-fashioned schooling about Amazing Meal and what it’s like drink a big glass of this disgusting protein shake. Wait, did I just spill the beans? Is Amazing Greens Amazing Meal really foul-tasting? Maybe. Maybe I just threw that in there to keep you guessing. Maybe I threw that in there to set you up for disappointment when in reality, the product is actually delicious. But you’ll never know until you read this review until the end. So what else am I going to cover besides just the flavor of Amazing Meal? I’m going to cover the ingredients, the label, the price/value, and of course the taste. Er. Wait, I already said that. Ok. I’m a little bit all over the place- you’ll have to forgive me. This promises to be, if NOTHING else, yet another highly entertaining BPW protein powder review. So I suggest you sit back, relax, and enjoy my latest work. Here is is, friends, my Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion Review.

I think we’ve probably all been exposed to Amazing Meal shakes. You’ve no doubt seen them in Vitamin Shoppe, and also in your local Whole Foods as well. If you’re like me, you’ve probably been tempted on more than one occasion. Drawn in by the prospect of a super healthy, super nutritious protein powder. But if you’re REALLY like me, than you know that the best course of action is sometimes to steer clear. Why? Because usually when something LOOKS as healthy as Amazing Grass Amazing Meal does, it’s because it IS really healthy. And really healthy things are usually not that great tasting. Right Vega One? Lol. (Check out my Vega One Protein Review Here). But yeah. I mean. Sure there ARE some of these vegan and plant-based proteins that taste OK (Like Gardenia for example), but the fact of the matter is most of them taste like Orgain protein– totally foul and disgusting. But you know what? I’m an open-minded person. So on my last trip to the Vitamin Shoppe I finally took the plunge and bought some Amazing Meal for myself. Here is what I thought about it, starting with the taste:

Does Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Taste Good?

The short answer is, no. Amazing Meal does not taste very good. I tried the chocolate infusion flavor of Amazing Grass and I can’t lie to you, it just does not taste great. I will go into more depth to tell you what I mean. The recipes that I tried for mixing this protein shake were first to just mix it straight into some water with a shaker bottle. This did not work out for me very well at all. The first problem is that Amazing Meal does not mix very well. I’m so spoiled by my Tasty Whey that whenever I come across a protein that doesn’t dissolve 100% perfectly, I get sort of agitated. So if you are going to get Amazing Meal, know that you’ve got to get a blender or something to make the consistency drinkable. Do NOT try and use a shaker bottle and tap water. I highly discourage you from using this method to drink your Amazing Meal. LOL. I just realized how ironic it is that I have to refer to the product by it’s name which is ‘Amazing Meal’ when in reality it’s actually quite disgusting. The product tastes like chocolate SORT OF, but the overwhelming notes in this product are not so much of chocolate but more of, hm, I guess, grains and fruits? It has almost a ‘hoppy’ taste that you get in some beers and stuff. It’s just very ‘healthy’ tasting. It’s disgusting. Well. I guess there are ways to make it less disgusting. Here is how:

The first thing you need to do to make Amazing Meal LESS disgusting is understand that you are basically about to make a milkshake with a little bit of Amazing Meal mixed in. There’s nothing really complicated about what we’re about to do. But. Unless you want your shake to taste like sawdust (semi-sweet, semi-fruity sawdust, but sawdust none-the-less), then you should give this a try.

  1. The first thing you need to do is get some ice cubes and put them in your blender
  2. The second thing you need to do is get a banana, some peanut butter, some milk (almond milk for you vegan psychos), and then some hershey’s cocoa powder. The Special Dark kind if you’re a pro.
  3. The third thing you need to do is add a banana to bump up the sweetness. Then you will add your scoop of Amazing Meal and blend it all up. This is going to be a very dense shake, calorically speaking, so just keep that in mind.

Well, there you have it. That’s the best / only way to make Amazing Grass taste better and be somewhat palatable. But for the sake of the review, I just can’t give Amazing Meal anything higher than a C plus on the flavor grade. I’ll be generous and give it a 7.8 just because I’m in a good mood. Let’s look at the formula now.

Amazing Greens Amazing Meal Formula Grade: 8.8

I guess it’s hard for me to grade some of these ‘healthy’ proteins on the same scale as I grade the muscle-building or muscle-recovery proteins. I’m so used to those proteins that I always just look for high-protein, low-calorie, low-fat proteins. It’s actually funny because the Women’s Best folks sent me a very interesting email that I ignored about their protein shake and how I can’t rag all over it since it’s a meal replacement and not a ‘protein shake’. Or something. But that shake is so unhealthy that I don’t care what they call it. They could call it the Savior Shake and I still would give that sugary crap a horrid score.

But anyways- this Amazing Grass Amazing Meal formula isn’t too shabby at all. I mean it better not be when it tastes the way it does! But. Yeah I guess you really have to take this protein shake for what it’s worth. It’s only got 16 grams of protein per serving, which impresses nobody, let’s face it. The sources of the protein are:

Organic Rice Protein and Organic Hemp Protein

That’s a pretty basic blend. Some of the other plant-based proteins will use quinoa, soy, or sachi inchi. I think quinoa would have given a slightly better consistency to this shake. But again, the protein isn’t really the focus of amazing meal. The focus is more on the greens blend, the antioxidant blend, and the digestive enzyme blend. Here is a full list of all the other ‘goodies’ in Amazing Meal:

  • Wheat Grass
  • Kale
  • Barley Grass
  • Alfalfa
  • Acai
  • Carrot
  • Blueberry
  • Goji
  • Rose Hips
  • Maca
  • Banana
  • Flax Seed

Then there are a bunch of probiotics as well, but I won’t talk about those since I don’t know what they do and / or how to spell them even though they’re right here on the label. But speaking of the label, let’s talk about the design now. To summarize this ingredients section- it’s really quite good but it does have 6 grams of sugar, and not a ton of protein. That means I personally don’t care that much for it, but having the other healthy ‘goodies’ in there is probably important to some people.

Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Packaging Grade: 8.0

Once again I just have to give this protein shake sort of an average grade on the label design. There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with it I don’t think, but it certainly does lack something in my opinion. I’ll try and stay positive though and tell you what I DO like about this label design.

The first thing that is actually really well done is the chocolate bar thing. The graphic is nicely positioned along the side of the label, and it does give the user a sense of what flavor can be expected from Amazing Meal, which is Chocolate infusion. You actually want to eat that bar of chocolate right off the side of the label. But you can’t. Instead you get a sawdusty flavored protein shake. LOL.

The second thing that I do like about this label is the font selection and background gradient of the label. Yeah. That’s getting really into the weeds I know. Or into the wheat grass I should say. But there is something really pleasant about how the brown shade fades darker towards the bottom of the label to let the rest of the design pop over it. The white font is a handsome serif font that makes it look right at home at Whole Foods.

The last thing that I like is the green lid. I know. It’s nothing too crazy, but the green does a good job of reinforcing the super healthy feel that this product gives off. The taste does too because it tastes gross but when you drink that nasty shake and then look at the green lid at the same time, you can practically feel yourself getting healthier. Super interesting. Sort of. Alright I’m clearly not making sense anymore let’s wrap this Amazing Meal review up.

Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Replacement Summary:

  • Amazing Greens Amazing Meal Flavor Grade: 7.7
  • Amazing Greens Amazing Meal Formula Grade: 8.8
  • Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Packaging Grade: 8.0
  • Amazing Greens Amazing Meal Value Grade: 7.6

I’m going to give a ‘C’ grade on this product because to me the value just isn’t there. Yeah, I GET that it has the greens/AOX blend in it. But for 15 servings you’ve got to shell out almost $40 (in CA). That’s alot of jack for a product that quite frankly tastes horrible and at the same time doesn’t have a ton of protein per scoop. I’m not saying it’s a bad product, it’s just not for me. At all.*

Amazing Greens Amazing Meal Final Review Score Grade: 7.7
